Announcements

School announcements that reach the right families, once

Target the whole school, a role, a class, a section or a named list; schedule it for the morning; and deliver it in-app, by email and by web push according to each recipient's own settings.

What the announcements module covers

  • Six ways to choose an audience

The whole organisation, a role, a class, a section, a list of students or a list of staff. A class audience reaches its students and their guardians together.

  • Scheduled sending

Compose it the evening before and set the time. A scheduled notice goes out by exactly the same path as one sent by hand, and can be cancelled before it does.

  • Expiry

A notice can carry an end date, after which it stops appearing. A sports-day reminder is noise a week later.

  • Three delivery channels

In-app, email and web push, so a parent who is not in the portal still receives the notice.

  • Recipient preferences

Each person chooses, per category, whether notices arrive immediately or as a daily or weekly digest, and on which channel. Guardians can set this per child.

  • Reach recorded

The number of recipients is stored when the notice is sent, so “how many families did that reach” has an answer after the class list changes.

Why the audience is worked out at the moment of sending

Most school communication still runs through WhatsApp groups, which have two problems a school cannot fix from inside them. Every notice lands in the same stream as everything else parents talk about, and the group's members are whoever was once added — not whoever is currently enrolled.

An audience here is a rule, such as “Class 8, section B, students and guardians”, worked out against the current roster at the moment the notice is sent. A student who joined last week is included and one who left is not. The number reached is stored with the announcement, so the record stays accurate after the roster moves on.

Delivery follows the recipient's settings rather than the sender's enthusiasm. A parent who wants everything immediately gets it; one who prefers a single evening digest gets that instead. Repeats of the same event are collapsed rather than sent twice.

What it is not is an SMS gateway. Delivery today is in-app, by email and by web push. If SMS or WhatsApp delivery is a requirement for your school, say so before you commit — we would rather scope it with you than have you assume it exists.

Announcements: common questions

Can we send an announcement to just one class or section?

Yes. Target a class or a single section and the notice reaches its enrolled students and their guardians. You can also target a role, a named list of students or staff, or the whole organisation.

Can school announcements be scheduled in advance?

Yes. Set a send time and the announcement is published automatically then, reaching the same audience by the same path as one sent by hand. A scheduled announcement can be cancelled until it goes out.

Does AcadiFlow send SMS or WhatsApp messages?

Not today. Announcements and notifications are delivered in-app, by email and by web push. If SMS or WhatsApp delivery is a requirement for your school, tell us before you commit rather than discover it afterwards.

Can parents choose how often they are notified?

Yes. Each recipient chooses per category whether notices arrive immediately or as a daily or weekly digest, and on which channel. Guardians with more than one child can choose separately for each.
