The template is the product
A report card is the one document a school's reputation is printed on, and it is also the one every school insists on formatting differently. Fixed layouts are why so many schools run an ERP for the data and Microsoft Word for the card — which means the printed document and the database disagree the moment anyone edits a number.
Templates are therefore first-class and per-organisation. The fields, the layout and the grading legend are defined once; issuing a card fills the template from the processed result rather than from re-entered marks.
Because the card is generated from the result, it inherits the board rule set automatically. A CBSE school's card shows grades; a university programme's shows SGPA and CGPA. Nobody has to remember to change the template when the board changes the rule.
